following the Spirit or our discontentments
06.26.08 - 10:51am
Last night during our gathering our resident prophetess Angela brought some good words about what we’re following when we’re not following the Spirit of God. She explained that when not submitted to the Spirit, we become driven to resolve our discontentments in life. We ask, “What don’t I like about my life?” and then go where the answers take us. It means we end up thinking or saying, “If I only had x…” or “If I could only..” THEN I’d be satisfied. What this does is allows the roots of something else (particularly bitterness) other than the gospel to sink deep and grow in our hearts.
What drives you? Who are you following? Do you have any process in place for taking the time to discern these things in your life?
I’m still recovering from this spiritual 2×4 beating…
Damn.
I did not need to hear that this morning.
Congrats Mike - you ruined a perfectly good morning of daydreaming of what I could be doing.
I will email you later about the other stuff.
Ummmm…you’re welcome?
